Yo! Yo is ready to give you some greyhound loving.  He may look like Jane; it's because they are half-siblings.  Yo is excited about his new life but unsure of those little critters around him.  He must be thinking, "Green feathers?  What kind of greyhound has green feathers?  What a strange place."  Yo is young at 2 years old and needs a little help with his new surroundings, but is very willing to have you show him what retirement is all about.
Rob-Roy

Rob-Roy

Housing: Foster
Cats: N/A
Small Dogs: N/A

Rob Roy is a happy, go-lucky boy! He is sweet dog and leaned on his human companions at his first adoption event. He even placed his head on his buddy Rampage's back for some greyhound comfort. Rob Roy loved to hear the squeak! squeak! of a toy and would cock his head to figure where the noise came from. He is very well behaved on the leash and does not pull. Rob Roy has a gentle demeanor and would make the perfect companion for any family.

Raider

Raider

Born: Dec/2009
Race Name: Raider Eclipse
Color: Black
Gender: Male
Housing: Kennel
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Weight: 67
Status: ADOPTED!
Raider must of been a pirate in a former life, as he has a sense of adventure!  Raider enjoys new places and wants to explore everything.  His swash-buckling ways started when he wanted to conquer the front seat - so he climbed over and had half of his body in the front, and the other half in the back.  He enjoyed the view, but the passengers in the truck, not so much.  Raider tends to do it his way and will pull, so he needs some work on how to behave on a leash.  Raider also has some energy to share and would love a good romp in the park or with some toys.

Status: ADOPTED!
Luna has lots of energy to share! She started service dog training at 9 months old - but didn't make the cut because all she wanted to do was play and run. Now Luna is looking for a new home. She's a american foxhound/greyhound mix, and oh soo cute. Adopt her!

Born: Oct/2008
Race Name: Smutty Nose IPA
Color: Black and white
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: Yes
Weight: 55
Status: ADOPTED!
Her racing name is after a beer, but Poppy doesn't need it to have a good time. This girl is always happy and her tail is always wagging. Poppy does have a spark to her and has been caught counter surfing by her foster mom. Her foster mom reports that Poppy is house broken without a dog door and goes to the door for potty breaks. Poppy gets along well with small dogs but not cats, and must be crated when no one is at home..
Tessa

Tessa

Born: Dec/2010
Race Name: RJ's Tessa
Color: Black
Gender: Female
Housing: Kennel
Cats: N/A
Small Dogs: N/A
Weight: 65
Status: ADOPTED!
Tessa is a sweetie! She rode very well in the car and even doggie-sat to see the scenery. She stayed in the back seat and poked her head through the side of the passenger seat for a peek of the front seats. Tessa just turned 2 years old and is very well behaved for a youngster, though new situations can be scary for her. With some reassurance, you will see her beaming smile! To Tessa's forever family - lucky you!
Dude

Dude

Born: Dec/2009
Race Name: James Dumna
Color: Red Fawn
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: N/A
Weight: 65
Status: ADOPTED!
Dude is one handsome hound and adores people! He's a goes-with-the-flow kinda guy. However, metal carts have him shaking in his boots. So no metal objects on wheels for him. Dude was well behaved for his medical exam and let the doctor poke into his ears - even though he had an infection in both ears. Ouch! He is currently being treated and will be 100% soon. Dude will make the perfect buckaroo for any family.
Fry

Fry

Color: White Fawn
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: Yes
Small Dogs: Yes
Weight: 85
Status: ADOPTED!
Fry is an abandoned family pet found wandering in a grocery parking lot. He was brought into the AGR community to seek a furever home. He is a Saluki mix, and is an estimated age of 3 to 5 years old. He has a very laid back personality and was even caught roaching at the Bookman's Meet & Greet! Currently, Fry lives with his 3 foster greyhounds and gets along exceptionally well with them. He likes sleeping in the same room where his people sleep, and is doggy door trained. Like any self-respecting hobo on the streets, Fry will drag his bed to where he wants to lay his head. Toys are a passion of his as he will fling them around to watch them fly! He loves his human companionship more than anything, and he will voice his displeasure if a day job will come between him and his adopter. The perfect adopter for Fry would be more of a homebody than the gal or guy-about-town as he has separation anxiety and cannot be crated for more than a couple of hours.  Fry has an Honorary Greyhound adoption fee of $160.
Halo

Halo

Born: Mar/2009
Race Name: Halo Busy Man
Color: Black
Gender: Male
Housing: Kennel
Cats: No
Small Dogs: N/A
Weight: 75
Status: ADOPTED!
Halo, Busy, Busy Man, whatever his name, he'll take it as long as you take him home with you.  Halo was retired because he was running too slow.  Halo walked very well on the leash and was easy to handle, which means he'll be quick to learn the new rules of a home-life.  His home though, can not have a cat since he was not-so-nice to them at the vet's office.  Halo is eager to learn more life lessons though!  Since he's still at the kennel, Halo has not been accepted into a home-program yet.  Is anyone offering a Master's in Couch Potato-ing?
Devo

Devo

Born: Sep/2004
Race Name: Rn's Denny Krane
Color: White/Brindle
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: Yes
Small Dogs: N/A
Weight: 79
Status: ADOPTED!
Devo is a 7-year-old boy who just came back to AGR through no fault of his own. He has been living in harmony with a fluffy cat and dominant female mix-breed dog for 4 years now.  Devo is a handsome, big boy, weighing 89 pounds and measuring 28 in. tall at his back and 34 in. at his head. His previous owners suggest that his ideal home would have a dog door or someone home quite often.
Ellie

Ellie

Born: Jun/2008
Race Name: Kiowa Elisa Ezgo
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Status: ADOPTED!
Ellie maybe out of the puppy stage, but she sure loves to do zoomies in the playarea at the kennel! Ellie loves a few laps around the tree for a little fun, then she's ready for some petting. She adores attention from humans, but not so much from the boy greys. Sometimes a girl just has to have her own space! Ellie will do very well as the only dog for some undivided attention.
Jane

Jane

Born: Jul/2010
Race Name: Gable Jane
Color: Red Brindle
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: N/A
Small Dogs: N/A
Status: ADOPTED!
Gable Jane is a sweet girl with a soft red brindle coat.  She may look like Gable-Yo; it's because they are half-siblings.  She is 2 years old and is still playful - she tried to climb over the car seats to be with the humans!  Gable Jane was also obedient when she was placed back in her seat.  She "doggie sat" in the car to get a better view of her brave new world.  Gable Jane is not shy of new things, and ready for a soft bed and a loving family.
Thunder

Thunder

Born: Jul/2010
Race Name: TNJ Thunderstorm
Color: Black
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: N/A
Weight: 70 lbs
Status: ADOPTED!
Thunder is a laid-back kinda guy. Thunder didn't want to run so a couch is better suited for his lifestyle. After all couchs are soft and comfy - perfect for an afternoon nap. He's curious of his surroundings and wanted to investigate all the new smells and sights, but he was also good on the leash. Thunder really wanted to investigate the resident cats at the vet's office but with clients in the waiting room - cat testing had to wait for another day. Thunder took it stride and followed the lady back to his temporary digs. What he's really curious about, is where his permanent digs are.
Vixen

Vixen

Born: Aug/2006
Race Name: fka Tinky Winky
Color: Black and white
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: With Work
Small Dogs: With Work
Status: ADOPTED!

Hi, my name is Vixen and I am one awesome dog.  They named me Tinky Winky but that name just doesn't do me justice!  I've learned to sit, down (lay), go outside, go to bed, wait, stop, and heel.  I love to play with my toys and those belly rubs send me over the moon!  I also know how to use my puppy-dog eyes to get some treats.  Getting pampered at "spa-days" are my favorite.

I have been well taken care of in a home for the last 1.5 years, but now I would like to find a home where I have a playmate or someone home most of the day.  I am tolerant of cats and ferrets, and do well with kids and other dogs at the dog park.  I am also crate-trained and dog-door trained.  Told ya I'm awesome!  My dog bed, toys, crate, food, and all my doggie stuff are coming with me - just need to find a place to go...if I use my puppy-dog eyes on you, would you take me home?

Bullet

Bullet

Born: Apr/2008
Race Name: TMC's Bullet
Color: Fawn
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: Yes
Small Dogs: N/A
Weight: 80
Status: ADOPTED!
Bullet is off the track because of sore muscles and ready for a new beginning.  He is curious about his surroundings and marked a few places on his first walk.  He's just letting everybody know that he is claiming this new place as his own - after all, this new life, he wants a piece of it!  Bullet walked well on a leash and left the cats alone, so he is cat friendly.  He has yet to learn what is inside a home since he's still at the kennel, but Bullet wants to stake a claim to that too!
Titan

Titan

Born: Jan/2008
Race Name: Ahk Titan
Color: Black
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Weight: 80
Status: ADOPTED!

Titan's a little confused - what happened to his dog bed? He had a home, but now he's at a different place. He's wondering when he will get to lay on a soft dog bed again. At the least, when will he be back in a home. Titan has gone through this transition with a great attitude - he had a blast meeting people and other dogs at the Bookman's event. Titan wasn't shy and introduced himself to the people at Bookman's for some petting. If only they would take him home!  For now, Titan will patiently wait for the day his dog bed reappears and he gets to stay with it forever.

FOSTER UPDATE: Titan is such a happy dog!  He always has a smile and greets you with his happy dance when you get home.  Titan is always in a good mood and can entertain himself with his toys.  He loves to toss and squeak those squeakies!  Titan is house-broken without a dog door and has not had any accidents in the house.

Titan is an independent guy and wouldn’t mind being the only dog in the house – more attention for him!  He was the only dog in a previous foster home.  Titan currently lives with 3 other greyhounds in his foster home and is getting along great with everyone.

Breeze

Breeze

Born: Jun/2009
Color: Brindle
Gender: Male
Housing: Kennel
Cats: N/A
Small Dogs: N/A
Status: ADOPTED!
I’ll whirl and spin around your legs and a whoosh of air will lightly brush your skin. How ‘bout them bananas [sorry, don’t like apples.]  I’m Breeze, a small tan/brindle fella that hired Bat Man and Robin to find me the most suitable home in Southern Arizona where I can hang my leash. It’s not that I’m picky or an ego maniac, it’s just that I’m very selective. I bring to the table a handsome appearance and a playful and affectionate personality, however, I know zilch about home living, but I can learn ‘cos I’m one smart greyhound. When racing, I fathomed out PDQ that if I lagged behind and ran slower than my competition, I would quickly be tossed out and headed for an adoption group.  Hello!  It worked – HA! I’m looking forward to living in a home with people who will play with me. I’d like to try my paw at basketball – will you teach me?
Ziggy

Ziggy

Born: Feb/2004
Race Name: Raging Surf
Color: Black Tuxedo
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: Yes
Small Dogs: Yes
Weight: 70
Status: ADOPTED!

After 4 years in a home, Ziggy has returned to AGR due to no fault of his own. He ran 47 races starting in Phoenix then finishing his career here in Tucson in 2007. Now, he's a spry 8 year old who still loves to run and play! He is housebroken with and without a doggy door.

FOSTER UPDATE:
Ziggy is a very lovey playful pooch. He loves running around the yard with his foster brother, and teasing his foster sister who doesn't want to run. He'll follow you around the house, especially right after you get home; and, he will not leave your side until he gets some good lovin'! Then, he'll sprawl out on his bed for a couple hours. He does bark and jump when he's excited, and he tries to nip at my hand when I'm not giving him attention fast enough; however, he's never actually bitten - it's more of a love nip. He gets along great with our other 2 dogs and 2 cats, although he's been put in his place by the Alpha several times. I think he would do best with another dog to play with, and probably with someone who doesn't work full time. I think he'd be fine with older children; but, since he doesn't realize how big and ungraceful he is, he would likely knock over smaller children.

Hailey

Hailey

Born: Jan/2003
Color: Black
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Weight: 50
Status: ADOPTED!
Hailey is a loving and energetic black lab mix who would make an excellent only dog. Hailey is about 8 1/2 years old and weighs 60 lbs. She is house-trained with a dog door and does not show signs of separation anxiety when left alone. Hailey went through six weeks of doggie class, and has shown great strength in agility training and obedience. She doggie social skills are less than perfect, as she does not get along with other dogs. However, she absolutely loves people and melts the hearts of everyone she meets. She loves to play fetch, tug of war, and chase. She walks well on the leash, and is a great running and hiking buddy. Hailey loves apples and has a hearty appetite. She obeys the commands sit, stay, down, off, go lay down, and heel. She will be there to greet you at the door with a toy in mouth ready to play every time you come home.
Rizzo

Rizzo

Born: Aug/2010
Race Name: Wishen the Peace
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: N/A
Status: ADOPTED!
My biography is coming soon!
Money

Money

Born: Dec/2009
Race Name: TK Mad Money
Color: Brindle
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: With Work
Weight: 55 lbs
Status: ADOPTED!
Money is a social butterfly! She was retired early because she would rather socialize than run. Money is very outgoing and seeks attention from everyone within sniffing distance. To her, everybody is somebody who could give her more petting and loving.  She will woo you with her wagging tail, then try to give you a big greyhound kiss on your face. This girl has personality!  Since she is enthusiastic when she meets people, Money may not do well with toddlers as she may knock them down. The spotlight is shining brightly on Money - she just needs a forever home where she can showcase her antics.
Bella

Bella

Born: Jan/2006
Race Name: Boc's Bombsquad
Color: White/Fawn
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: N/A
Small Dogs: Yes
Status: ADOPTED!
Bella is a beauty with a personality to match! She is not shy and has the energy to entertain herself but needs another dog companion for company.  She was doggie door trained in her previous foster home before she was adopted, but is also house-trained without a dog door. Bella has some separation anxiety and needs to be crated, but doesn't mind at all since she willingly goes to her crate at night for some beauty sleep.  Bella prefers her crate, as she does not get on the furniture - even with coaxing.

Bella has a high prey drive, but with regular walking and some training, she has learned to leave the birds, small dogs, and rabbits alone. She has not been around cats.

She is 6 years old and has been in a home for about 1.5 years, so she will adjust well to a new home.
Killian

Killian

Born: May/2008
Race Name: Holdem AZ Gus
Color: Red
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: Yes
Small Dogs: N/A
Weight: 70
Status: ADOPTED!
Killian is such a handsome fella.  When he smiles, his tongue sometimes falls to the side - soo cute!  His red coat is soft and his personality is sweet. Killian can be shy in new situations, but a few kind words is all he needs to feel secure. He walks well on the leash and left the cats mostly alone but sniffed them a bit if they passed by in front of him. Killian loves his hugs but would love to be part of a family even more.
LuLu

LuLu

Born: Aug/2010
Race Name: Gable Hunan
Color: Black
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: Yes
Small Dogs: N/A
Weight: 50
Status: ADOPTED!
LuLu is a sweet, mellow girl who graciously accepts any attention you give her. LuLu had an early retirement at 2 years old, but doesn't show signs of the mischievousness sometimes seen with greyhound youngsters. She much rather get attention for being good than for being bad - after all, she knows the good life starts now! LuLu is currently enjoying her retirement with her greyhound foster brother. The cats at the vet offices were interesting to her, but she quickly left them alone after a good sniff.
Toby-Todd

Toby-Todd

Born: May/2003
Race Name: Bella Todd
Color: Brindle
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster

Small Dogs: N/A
Status: ADOPTED!
Toby is 9 years old and like all senior citizens, deserve the best while they need it the most. He's taking meds for his thyroids and valley fever.  Toby is house-trained without a dog door and friendly to everyone he meets.

Toby is a gentle guy looking for a soft bed and a little help with his meds, and a final move to a new home.
Mac

Mac

Born: Feb/2010
Color: Black Tuxedo

Housing: Kennel
Cats: N/A
Small Dogs: Yes
Status: ADOPTED!

AGR is beaming with pride to announce Mac has been chosen to participate in a very special program aimed towards helping PTSD veterans! Mac has been matched with his veteran; and, once he's ready, he will have the lifelong assignment of being the veteran's companion!  You can read more about Mac and Operation Wolfhound on Mac's special blog:  http://houndshelpingvets.wordpress.com/

Racing name: Mulberry T Mac

Haze

Haze

Born: Nov/2005
Color: Gold Fawn
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: Yes
Small Dogs: Yes
Status: ADOPTED!

After 2 years in a home, Haze was relinquished back to AGR due to no fault of his own. His racing career, consisting of 28 races, was in Texas before coming to Arizona for adoption. Haze has beautiful golden eyes and has an ever-so-slight tint of blue in his coat. It was reported that Haze is small dog and kitty friendly, but it still needs to be confirmed. He's currently living with 3 other dogs, and they are all the same size as he is. Haze is housebroken with or without a doggy door, and spends most of his day sleeping. Bedtime is spent in his family's bedroom on his own doggy bed.... tho it may not take much to convince him the bed is the place to be! Being with the family is topmost on Haze's agenda, but he does understand when his foster mom has to go shopping for kibble. Haze will be available after he gains a tad bit more weight and is confirmed with up-to-date vaccines.

Racing name: Kissmeagain

Eclipse

Eclipse

Born: Jan/2010
Color: Black Tuxedo
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: N/A
Small Dogs: Yes
Status: ADOPTED!

Eclipse is a 2 year old who ran twice at TGP. He is housebroken with or without a doggy door, and walks well on the leash. He loves attention and will follow you everywhere. Having his coat brushed is one of his favorite pastimes as well as grabbing a toy or two. However, he's still trying to figure out what the toy's job is, so he'll drop it almost as soon as he grabs it. Eclipse doesn't care to be crated, but will relunctantly go in if needed. He has not tried to get on furniture, but could probably be talked into it by the right person. He rides well in the car, and is quite the curious hound in the house. He's currently in foster with an Italian Greyhound and is doing well.

Racing name: Flat Out Eclipse

Riley

Riley

Born: Jan/2009
Color: Black
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Status: ADOPTED!
FOSTER UPDATE: Riley is an affectionate dog with a dash of sassy. She is at ease with both males and females - and likes children. Riley has learned to use a doggie door and can entertain herself with squeaky toys that she carries around the home in her mouth. She also enjoys cooling her tummy on the top step of the pool. Riley will growl or bark at other dogs if they approach her too quickly but she gets along well with her two greyhound roommates and two temporary greyhound visitors. Riley is a talker and whines when she sees other dogs across the street or behind fences. She is not the least shy and can handle being alone for a short while without becoming anxious. Unexpected and unfamiliar activity like a bouncing basketball or quick movements above or around her sometimes make her a little skittish. Riley has a high prey drive and cannot live with small dogs or cats.
Reba

Reba

Born: Jan/2009
Color: White with black spots
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Status: ADOPTED!
FOSTER UPDATE: Reba is adorable and a quick learner, so says her foster mom. She’s cute and definitely still has some puppy energy and mannerisms. Her favorite toy is a blue ball with a squeaker that she carries around in her mouth. She’s not shy and can be left alone for a while without any major repercussions. She rides well in the car, barks moderately, and is practically house trained using a doggie door. Reba loves her walks but still pulls a little on the leash. She loves food, so she should be easy to train using food as the motivator. Reba does not tolerate crating!  She does have allergies, which seem to include wheat and environmental triggers, so she takes a daily antihistamine. Reba knows her name, comes when called, and responds to commands, “Go make” and “Go lay down.” This cute bundle can climb like a monkey, so potential adopters be warned; hide your sponges and don’t leave anything on the stove or countertops!
Kent

Kent

Born: Jan/2009
Color: Red
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Status: ADOPTED!
FOSTER UPDATE: Kent is an exuberant greeter when his foster mom returns from work. He loves toys and, like his foster friend Reba, has his favorite. Kent is an affable, affectionate hound, not the least shy with people, and he is not bothered by loud noises.  He loves to ride in the car, standing the entire time, barks moderately, and enjoys his walks although he pulls on the leash. Kent is healthy, has a good appetite but does not care for raw veggies like his doggie roommates. His foster mom is currently working on house training, as she doesn’t have a doggie door. Kent is not crated. He is easy to handle when it’s time for grooming. He knows his name, comes when called, and obeys the commands, “Go make” and “Go lay down.” Kent is an easy dog and super enthusiastic about everything. Not to mention he’s handsome!
Ria

Color: Black
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: With Work
Small Dogs: N/A
Status: ADOPTED!
I’m a former brood Mom called Ria. I’ve just discovered toys and I’m over the moon. I could spend hours alone playing with those things. I was a good mom but, as the Lebanese philosopher Kahlil Gibran pointed out, I was merely the bow from which my living puppies were sent forth. I get it. I did my bit. They’re gone. Now it’s time for Mama to party. I’m very much like my sister Heather – she’s now in foster. We love to play, are very affectionate and gentle and adore cuddles. We both want to live with an amicable male greyhound, or two, as we’re big fans of ‘knights in shining armor!’ After all, you never know when a lady greyhound might need a little rescuing – not every pooch likes spiders! Female greyhounds – just like people - have secret femme fatal qualities that we draw upon when necessary. Please! We know how to bat our eyelashes to make the males do our bidding, and they love it!

I’m petite, bouncy and sassy and my name is Ebony.  Unless you’re a dunderhead, and obviously, you’re not because you’re cruising this website, you’ve already fathomed out that I’m a black fox with two white snow wheels on the back end of my chassis. I love to play and I can outfox any breed at navigation strategy, thanks to my rear snow wheels. I can skid to a stop or turn on a dog biscuit before your computer can download emails. Eat your heart out Bill Gates!  Just a minute, incoming call. . . Oh, hi Bill. No of course not, I was just joshing around. No, no need for lawyers.  Only a dunderhead would think that a couch potato could out-run a computer application. Phew!
Tony

Tony

Born: Oct/2009
Color: Brindle
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Status: ADOPTED!
My name is Tony.  I’m a small, light brindle male that’s dashingly handsome and nimble. You should see me play chase, throw and catch. I’m a master at the game, zig zagging hither and thither to snag the prize. No more running in circles for this greyhound - thank you very much.  It’s enough to give a guy a headache. I’m drooling over all the affection I get at the kennel, but can’t wait to find a crib of my own. It would be great to have a doggie companion. Doesn’t have to be a greyhound. I’m no snob. I’ll exchange butt sniffing with all breeds, although there is something special about a greyhound. Once you’ve lived with us, you can’t live without us.

Vana

Born: Aug/2005
Color: Black
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: N/A
Status: ADOPTED!
FOSTER UPDATE: Vana was a scared pooch when she first came to AGR. Now in foster, Vana is gradually learning that the outside world can be exciting and fun. She is living with two other greys and enjoys being one of the pack: she’s not an alpha dog. Vana remains shy but quiet, gentle reassurance will help her overcome her shyness. She is house trained without a doggie door. There have been no accidents or incidents of destruction in the house. Vana is not to be crated. When the vacuum is dragged out, Vana and her greyhound roommates disappear. Loud noises still scare her and she is not thrilled with ceiling fans, but has adjusted to them. Vana is healthy and eats well; no foods seem to upset her tummy. While still timid, Vana is not beyond countersurfing: she recently swiped a cooked chicken breast off the counter! As soon as she’s a little more confident with the world around her, Vana will make the perfect fur companion for the right person/people.

Nicole

Born: Aug/2008
Color: Black
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: Yes
Small Dogs: Yes
Status: ADOPTED!
FOSTER UPDATE: Nicole has a sweet temperament, is a quick learner, and gets along well with her greyhound roommate, the cat, and a Chihuahua-type dog. She is 90% housebroken. Nicole eats well and is learning not to countersurf. She is not shy around people, likes to hang out with her foster Mom, and only whines momentarily when the foster mom leaves the home. Nicole remains calm around cars and vacuums but has yet to experience a thunderstorm. She loves the car and her walks and barks very little. She’s not tolerant of crating. Nicole is healthy and no foods bother her tummy. She handles grooming well, knows her name and will come when called, and is learning commands: no, stay, O.K. Nicole will do well with people that give her a lot of affection and attention.

FOSTER UPDATE: I’m an outgoing, well-adjusted, happy go lucky five-month puppy that weighs twenty-six pounds. I get along with people, other dogs and friendly cats. The only time I’ve barked is when a rattlesnake had the nerve to slither onto our patio, then I barked plenty - from a distance of course. My people told his people – move that trespassing rattler outta Doge. I have a couple of bad habits: I jump on people when they come into the house; I pull on the leash when we walk, and I love chewing bags and belts that are left laying around the house. Hey, I’m a puppy; we do those things, but my foster mom is teaching me that such activities are not acceptable. I’m smart, clicker trained, and know my name. I also respond to: come, sit, lie down, roll over, shake hands, drop it, go get it. For only five months old, I think that’s awesome, don’t you. Oh, nearly forgot, I don’t like to be crated when left alone, just sayin’.
Clementine

Clementine

Born: Apr/2001
Color: Black
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Status: ADOPTED!
FOSTER UPDATE: Clementine and Ozzy rebound to AGR because their owner became seriously ill and could no longer care for them. These dogs need a permanent home together. They will not do well living apart. Clementine prefers to spend her time snoozing on her bed. She is not interested in playing with toys. She gets along well with her foster sisters. Clementine cries when her foster guardians leave the home but she is not destructive. Unexpected loud or unusual noises do not disturb her. She rides well in the car, barks very little, and is house trained using a doggie door. Clementine is not crated but the foster parents use a doggie gate to corral her when they are absent from the home. She enjoys her walks, is good on the leash, and tolerates grooming. Clementine knows her name, comes when called, and knows basic commands: ‘No,’ ‘Leave it,’ ‘Come.’

Ozzy

Born: Jan/2002
Color: Fawn
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Status: ADOPTED!
FOSTER UPDATE: Ozzie is a love bug; always has his head in someone’s lap and wants to be petted all the time. He is not shy and loves people. Although he cries when left alone, he is not destructive in the home. Tolerates the vacuum by thrusting his nose in the air and vacating the room!  Ozzie needs a little hoist to get him in the back of a car. He barks very little and is house trained using a doggie door. Ozzie is not a candidate for ‘The Biggest Loser’ because he’s not thrilled about daily walks. He will, however, allow gentle grooming. Ozzie knows his name and will come when called. He must find a home with Clementine because they’re like Mr. and Mrs. Ozzie has soft bunny type fur and is a complete love bug.

They call me Hobo but I’m not partial to aimlessly wandering the countryside. I don’t like extreme temperatures and I imagine I would encounter both wandering between Flagstaff and Tucson. I’m more of a homebody. I like to be with my people, go on long walks, toss squeaky toys in the back yard, and relax on a huge doggie bed while gnawing on a marrow bone.  However, whoever is lucky enough to adopt me needs to know that I’m one smart pooch. For instance, if you try to corral me in the kitchen using a baby gate, it won’t work. I can open gate latches. If you wag your finger at me and tell me not to countersurf, don’t be surprised if the lights suddenly go out in the living room while you’re reading the newspaper: I can turn light switches on and off. HA! Aren’t I just a kick in the petunia.
Jewel

Jewel

Born: Jun/2010
Color: Red Fawn
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: N/A
Small Dogs: N/A
Status: ADOPTED!
FOSTER UPDATE: Jewel is a smart dog and very much a puppy; she is not crated. She loves to play with toys, steal socks or shoes, counter surf, and snatch things off the coffee table. A verbal scolding keeps Jewel in line. If she gets too snappy during play, she’s told ‘No’ and she stops. After her first week in foster, Jewel thought Patches the cat was a toy and tried to pick him up in her mouth. Patches was not amused but did not jump off the couch; the cat realized that Jewel was not being aggressive. However, if Jewel went to a home with a cat, supervision and a dog-free zone for the cat would be a good idea until both animals get used to each other. On her walks, Jewel is friendly toward people but is unsure about children. Housebreaking is ongoing and Jewel is learning fast. She loves to walk and ride in the car. She responds to her name and ‘come,’ ‘off’ and ‘scoot.’
Molly

Molly

Born: Feb/2009
Color: Black
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: N/A
Small Dogs: N/A
Status: ADOPTED!
FOSTER UPDATE: Molly has puppy energy and loves to toss around fuzzy squeaky toys, and run with the hounds at play date. She is a friendly, affectionate dog that seems to like little kids and adults alike.  Like all greyhounds, Molly is inquisitive and kicks into this mode when her foster mom leaves her alone for a few hours. It’s best to thoroughly doggie proof the home until the greyhound knows the rules about ‘their stuff’ and ‘our stuff.’  Molly counter surfed and wolfed down three loaves of bread that were left out on the kitchen counter during her first week in foster HA!  Molly is healthy and no foods seem to bother her. She does show a lot of interest in cats on her walks. Given the opportunity, she would go after them, so she probably is not compatible with kitties. She would do best in a home with another dog, and where the adopter is not absent from the home for long periods.

Yes, someone named me Sheriff, probably due to my size. Please, no cracks. After the racing industry released me, I completed an application for future assignments. I listed Professional Pet, not Deputy. I’m a large brindle hound that’s gentle and loving. I just need a large doggie bed to call my own and a family to spoil me.  Beamer told me that his mom prefers male greyhounds. She says that we’re mush ball goofballs that melt into submission with regular affection. Female greyhounds, however, are a little more temperamental and require more work. Mm, thinking here. Did Beamer’s mom say that female greyhounds are smarter than males? Oh, oh, incoming. Hi there Anabel. What’s that? You live with Beamer and your mom treats you both the same. O.K. So, do you think that your mom considers you smarter than Beamer? Oh dear, does Beamer know that? No, oh, of course, that makes sense. Poor Beamer.
