Adopt A Greyhound

Every greyhound needs a home, but not every home needs a greyhound. We do not adopt our greyhounds as first come first served; but rather, we make an educated and conscientious attempt in matching the right dog with the right home.

In an effort to match each greyhound with his or her best possible home, Arizona Greyhound Rescue has a multi-step adoption process that allows our volunteers to get to know potential adopters, and to provide the information and support necessary to ensure a successful placement. Available Hounds

We adopted 46 hounds in 2016!

Bently

Born: July/2012
Race name: Kiowa Cry Meyer
Color: Brindle Greyhound
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Weight: 74
Status: Available
Bently came to our family from Alabama. He is a beautiful orange and black brindle, with a short tail. Bently is very sociable and affectionate. He is house-trained and uses a doggie door. He love walks, playing with squeaky toys, getting petted, getting treats, and lounging on a memory foam bed. UPDATE: Due to circumstances in the home, Bentley's adoption did not go as expected. He is available and looking for a couch to call his own soon! We would like to place him in the same home as Fusion as they have become a bonded pair. But it would also be possible to place him without Fusion.

Fusion

Born: Oct/2014
Race name: Keeper Grandpa
Color: Black Greyhound
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: With Work
Small Dogs: With Work
Weight: 67
Status: Adoption Pending
Fusion was an Alabama guy and just turned 2 in October. He can live in a house with cats and/or small dogs with work and patience. He is still a bit fearful, but he is making remarkable strides. Fusion is clean and patient and is social with the other hounds. UPDATE: Fusion's adoption did not proceed as planned. Can you help him find his home soon? AGR would like to place him in the same home as Bently as they have become a bonded pair. But Fusion could also be placed in a home without Bently.

Earl

Born: 2016
Race name: NA
Color: Blue Grey Greyhound
Gender: Male
Housing: Foster
Cats: TBD
Small Dogs: TBD
Weight: 50
Status: Adoption Pending
Earl is a year old non-racing greyhound that was surrendered as a 5 month old puppy to the Benson Animal Shelter by a breeder. He has had his wellness check, shots, and his neuter surgery. He has a bowed left front leg, and he will have x-rays to determine if his growth plates are closed. When they are, we will be working with Kate Titus of A Loyal Companion for his brace and orthotic. What a lucky boy... he will be adopted by his medical fosters.

Sunrise (aka Sunny)

Born: Oct/2011
Race name: WW's Junk Bonds
Color: Red Greyhound
Gender: Female
Housing: Foster
Cats: No
Small Dogs: No
Weight: 60
Status: Available
Sunrise, (Sunny) joined the AGR family from a farm in Kansas. Her last race was in August 2014. She raced 65 races in her career and has had 6 puppies. Miss Sunny had a bout of worms when she first came to us, but she is parasite free now! Sunny has a high prey drive for cats and small dogs, and she is very reactive to fluffy, light colored small dogs. She gets along fine with both male and female greyhounds, but takes time to warm up and become part of the family. She is also reactive to other dogs who exhibit high unstable energy. UPDATE: Sunny is in her foster home with Jingle and Bella, her greyhound buddies and is doing great!!! She loves to chew on bones, play with fuzzy toys and find the most comfortable bed and nap. She has a sunny personality and is a happy...happy girl. She is housebroken and very respectful of her home!!! Open you heart and home to this amazing girl!!!!

Charlotte
